Non-visual Computing (NVC) Communications Policy

To participate in the NVC program, you are required to follow these guidelines when posting on social media, making public announcements, publishing research papers, or sharing any information about the HDK-1, NOICE, STO and Xrpa.

Prior to making any public announcement or social media post that references any part of the NVC Research Platform (NOICE, HDK-1, STO), you must discuss the content of the post or announcement with Meta and secure our written consent to use our name, trademarks, or logos in advance.

STO Communications Policy

When discussing your research, describe the STO as a spatial tracking device based on an Olympus controller, assembled and provided by Reality Labs Research. You must indicate the following:  

  1. The STO is not a product.  
  2. The device was provided by Reality Labs Research.

HDK-1 Communications Policy

When discussing your research, describe the HDK1 as a microcontroller-based development kit and custom circuit board, assembled and provided by Reality Labs Research.  You must indicate the following:  

  1. The HDK-1 is not a product.  
  2. The device was provided by Reality Labs Research.

NOICE Communications Policy

When discussing your research, describe the NOICE as a Quest with the screen removed,  modified and provided by Reality Labs Research.  You must indicate the following:  

  1. Reality Labs Research modified the device, not you.
  2. The device was provided by Reality Labs Research.
  3. The device is Quest hardware and not something brand new or different.  

Xrpa Communications Policy

When discussing your research, describe Xrpa (“zerpa”) as an open source software framework that facilitates building experimental computing experiences. You must indicate the following:   

  1. Xrpa is an open source project, not a product.  
  2. Xrpa is provided by Reality Labs Research.
